Sunday was race day. The race didn't start until about 10:30 for Dad. Mallory was the goodie goodie one and went to church by herself while the rest of us slept in and took our time. The original plan was to see Dad at two stops, about mile 17 and about mile 24 I think. Keith, Mallory and I wanted to see him earlier in the race so we headed out to Brooklyn to see him at mile 8. It was SUPER crowded everywhere we went. Keith and Mallory both have iPhones and Dad used his in the race so we used the app "Find My Friend" to track him. Overall it worked pretty well. We were able to see him, take a video and then we raced to get back to the apartment to get Hayley and Jana. We grabbed them and jetted off the catch the next subway to meet him at mile 17. Somehow only Mallory and I made it on the subway and Keith, Jana and Hayley had to catch the next one. Once Mallory and I made it to our stop we went above ground to track Dad and realized he was closer than expected so we booked it to the route with only a few minutes to spare. Mallory and I cheered him again and turned around to go catch the other 3 and run to the next spot. They had just missed him by minutes.

New York Day Four {November 6} RACE DAY
We had plenty of time to make it to mile 24. Mile 24 was in the park. It took us forever to finally get to wear we had a good spot to see him. Lots of people were dressed in costumes and other funky running "gear." We kept trying to track him on the iphones but the system was slowing down and not updating as often as it should. Before we realized it Dad was calling us asking where we were and we all realized he had somehow passed us with none of us seeing him and him no seeing any of us. He was running on the left side of the road and we could only get to the right side of the road. BUMMER! We tried to catch him coming out after the finish line but security was lame and wouldn't let us stand in certain areas of the park and would only allow us to go certain directions on some of the paths as well.
This was our practice cheer. Little did we know we would never get to do the real one at this spot since we missed him.
We finally caught up with him after the race and all posed for pictures before racing home and heading to dinner. He did awesome. He beat his previous record by a minute for a finish time of 4:39:08!
Sunday evening we went to dinner at Quality Meats. For anyone who can afford it, it's totally worth it. The appetizers alone were to die for. I'm not much of a red meat person so I ordered salmon and it was heavenly. The rest of the evening we just relaxed and took it easy.
