so i've decided i need to improve my photography skills but i've come to realize this isn't an easy thing when you're living on one income. i don't have thousands to spend on a top of the line camera, i don't have hundreds to spend on workshops and classes and i don't have a big enough house to have a little in home studio or endless amounts of money to buy cute little props. i love the skill and talent professional photographers have but holy crap it costs so much to actually get the rights to all your pictures. i'm probably not the typical client. i want all the images on cd so i can do whatever i want whenever i want. prints are great and all but what am i going to do with a bunch of printed out pictures?? generally i only print out one picture and put it in a frame....i might give a few others to family members but other than that i don't use actual prints. i think now that we have a child i just have this desire to capture every moment of every day. i love my new camera but i'm having trouble getting the lighting right when i take pictures inside. if i use the flash kate looks great but everything behind her is dark and in shadow but then when i take the flash off the lighting looks right but everything is slightly blurry and not as sharp as when i use the flash. i've read the manual a million times but it's almost like reading a foreign language.

I feel your pain. Maybe I'll get a sweet camera for Christmas. I won't hold my breathe though.
Those manuals are terrible to understand. If you ever get it let me know what the secret is.
Awe Sara, I have so been there!!!! Im glad you have found this love! I started out this way as well, not only did i want my pictures on a cd, I wanted my visions played out no someone elses. Photography is so so so expensive. I have to buy a little bit here and a little bit there, but it definitely isnt cheap, and the learning goes on and on and on, but if you have a love for it you will learn everything you can and you will yearn to learn more! Its hard because photographers do charge a lot at times (i have a love hate relationship with family pictures, love the memories, hate hte price) but it takes so much work to take the pictures, edit them, prepare marketing materials, etc, theres a lot that goes into it.
