Christmas

I'm a total slacker and haven't even blogged about Christmas yet. Unfortunately we were so busy with activities we didn't even take any pictures either!

Christmas Eve we spent with Keith's parents. We headed out early and spent some time exploring the Bountiful Pond. We fed the ducks and birds and walked out onto the frozen pond. We then headed downtown to catch an early dinner at California Pizza Kitchen at the Gateway. We actually parked by the LDS Conference Center so we took TRAX down to the Gateway. It was Kate's first time and she seemed to thoroughly enjoy it, Megan seemed a little nervous at first but she was also securely strapped into the stroller. After we ate dinner we headed back over to Temple Square to see the lights. Megan LOVED to see the lights. Since it was so cold out we didn't stay too long and Megan started crying as soon as we got her back in the car and pretty much didn't stop until we got back to Keith's parents house. We then enjoyed some hot chocolate and opened all our gifts since we weren't going to be there Christmas Day. We all received several very nice gifts and what we had hoped "Santa" would bring us. We then headed back home and the girls went to bed about 8:30. In all the hustle and bustle of getting the girls off to bed we forgot to leave cookies out for Santa but luckily Keith and I took care of it for them.

Christmas morning the girls woke around 8:30. I'm sure when they're a little older they'll start waking at the crack of dawn on Christmas. Chris, Jamie and Keira came over to moms and we all enjoyed opening presents and eating a yummy breakfast. We then had to rush to get ready and head to church at 11. Honestly our sacrament was just okay, nothing super spiritual or earth shattering to report this Christmas.

After church we came home, had some lunch and Megan took her nap. At about 3pm we headed up to my Dad's to enjoy more present opening and yummy food. After an hour or two they decided they were going to head to see other family and we decided to head back home to rest. Christmas and small children can be exhausting. Especially with Kate's birthday 5 days before Christmas. It's hard for them to process all the excitement and activities. I'm afraid Kate's little head is going to burst one of these years!

The rest of Christmas Day was fairly quiet. It seems odd to me that Christmas is already done and over with. Christmas is so different as an adult, even more so when you have kids of your own I think. Plus with the weather being as nice as it has and no snow for Christmas it still seems like Christmas should be yet to come.

Maybe we'll have a white Christmas next year!
